The Refinery Youth Center Project
The Refinery Youth Center is a project that is sorely needed in all
small town communities. Substance abuse and other high risk behaviors
are temptations for youth in every town and city, small town youth have
very few alternatives. The Refinery Youth Center will provide a place
that is fun and safe for the youth of our community. A place where
they can play games, relax and connect, study and finish homework, and
have good role models to encourage and counsel them in their life
decisions and problems. The 4,000 square foot building would be one
large open room with half of it being a basketball/volleyball court and
the other half being more of a coffee bar/cafe and hang out area. The
Refinery Youth Center would be staffed by two workers/volunteers (one
of each gender) that would ensure a safe atmosphere and the opportunity
for guidance or counseling for the youth. The building could also be an asset to the community and church for various events.
